GREAT & NOBLE HOUSES
▼

The Great Houses are the most powerful of the noble houses throughout the Seven Kingdoms. The name of a Great House commands immense authority and power in their respective territories and over their vassal houses. The heads of these Great Houses only answer to the King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.great houses

Noble houses are sworn to the Great House that holds jurisdiction over their living region. Noble houses can bind together in order to overthrow a Great House, in turn making themselves the Great House of the region. Once an individual noble house gains power worth recognising, it will be listed below along with its lord.bastardy

Very negative social stigmas are attached to bastardy across the Seven Kingdoms, aside from in Dorne. Bastards can only become legitimised by the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, King of the Andals and the First Men. Bastard surnames listed below only apply to bastard-born children of noble houses. Bastards of Great Houses can only be born if they ask permission from the lord of the house.
