♞
Within the Seven Kingdoms there are many classes that help define the different types of individuals that inhabit the land. Each class is vital to the success of the realm as a whole and as such, a master in their designated class is held in high prestige across the entire realm.faith of the seven
▼
The Faith of the Seven is the main religion within Westeros. The followers of the religion, known as The Faith, believe that there is one single god that has seven faces (or aspects). Each aspect is supposed to represent one part of existence. The Faith is based within the Great Sept in King's Landing. Septons (male) and Septas (female) often embark on religious journeys to all areas of Westeros to preach the word of The Faith and convert people to join them.
Knights are heavily influenced by The Faith and its principles. As such, The Faith itself is not militarised and will often make use of the knights of King's Landing to carry out tasks that require the use of relative force.
The Faith also holds various social beliefs against the practices of incest, bastardy and kinslaying. Homosexuality is also forbidden by the Seven and as such, is considered a crime in Westeros. Those who sin are often kept within cells in the Great Sept and required to confess their sins before the Seven and march through the city in a Walk of Shame to repent for their sins.
There are two main groups within The Faith:
- Septons (male)
- Septas (female)
The Faith is then governed by a group of high-ranking septons and septas known as the Most Devout. This council maintains the order as a whole and is responsible for electing a High Septon.

knighthood
▼
Knighthood is a rank given to warriors who perform exemplary for either a lord or the realm in general. Its members are known as knights and are addressed by the title Ser. All knights follow the code of chivalry almost religiously, stating that knights must fight for the weak and innocent, must protect women and children, obey their lieges, and fight fairly and honourably. In order to progress from a squire to a knight, one must at least have performed a total of 5 quests.Ranks within the knighthood class are as follows:
- Squire
- Knight
Knights that are considered of the highest calibre can be invited to join specific regiments tailored to their skills. These include:
- Kingsguard
- City Watch of King's Landing
There are three main types of knights:
- Hedge Knights - usually common people that rise to the rank of knight. They have no fixed abode and usually move from region to region looking for a cause to fight for. Many do not have sustained income and as such become thieves.
- Sworn Swords - knights that have sworn to a particular lord. This can be both a permanent and temporary arrangement. The lord may reward the knight for their dedicated services.
- Landed Knights - knights that have been rewarded by a lord for their services with either a piece of land or a small manor with a few servants. These knights make up minor nobility and can eventually become lords themselves, leading minor houses in service to a Great House.
MAESTERS
▼
Maesters are an order of scholars, healers and learned men in the Seven Kingdoms. Due to their knowledge and their pursuit of the greater knowledge of the world, they are often regarded as the knights of the mind. Only men may join the maesters' guild.Maesters forfeit their family and political ties upon joining the order. They give up their right to inheritance and take an oath of celibacy.
The headquarters of the Order of Maesters is the Citadel, recently relocated from Old Town to King's Landing. Within the Citadel is the Conclave, a council of archmaesters that overrule the order.
Maesters wear distinctive chains around their neck. Each link in the chain represents a field of study by which an individual maester has mastered. Maesters are expected to wear their chains at all times, even when sleeping.
Upon completion of their training at the Citadel, the maesters are then assigned to a castle and a lord in Westeros.
The ranks of the order include:
- Initiate
- Maester
- Archmaester
- Grand Maester (--)
The Grand Maester is considered the most senior member of the order and is assigned to directly aid the King of the Realm.
mercenary
▼
Mercenaries are individual soldiers that hold no allegiance to any lord or country, instead hiring out their services in exchange for payments and other valuable goods. Through this, they are often labelled sellswords as they sell their services with their sword.Mercenaries of high calibre can eventually group together to form a sellsword company. These companies can become private armies for individuals willing to pay them enough gold.

NIGHT'S WATCH
▼
The Night's Watch is a military organisation that guards the Wall as servants and protectors of the realm from the great beyond. Members of the Night's Watch swear an oath of duty that prevents them from engaging in marriage, family and land ownership. New recruits renounce all past allegiances and birthrights upon taking their vows.
Joining the watch also provides absolution from past crimes and immunity from further punishment from those crimes.
There are three main groups within the Night's Watch:
- Rangers
- Builders
- Stewards
The Night's Watch is overlooked by a single Lord Commander who controls the organisation and maintains its operations.
Current Lord Commander:

nobles
▼
Nobles refer to individuals of noble houses spread across the Seven Kingdoms. They often control and oversee land and castles, as well as the smallfolk that live within them. Individuals of noble birth are respected due to the surnames that they carry. In most regions of Westeros only men can become ruling lords, and women can only rule if the rest of the male line has been extinguished. This is not the case in Dorne however.
smallfolk
▼
Smallfolk make up the bulk of the civilian populace scattered across Westeros. They are usually peasants and other common people with no real agenda, other than that to simply live out their lives in whatever trade they are in. They are usually uneducated and illiterate, and most of them don't use/have surnames unlike their noble counterparts.Specific smallfolk may include:
- Peasants
- Prostitutes
- Servants
